Unhappy f*cking Valentine's night!!!

The past few days i had several posts in my head, stuff i wanted to share with all of you (and i promise i will, the next days) but something happened tonight and changed everything!

I consider my self to be a good man,a "nice fellow",a kind human being(and as a human i have my "bad" moments),so i can't explain this:why every time i am in my "best",why every time i feel happy, productive, almost "needed",why every f*cking time that i don't see my self as a useless piece of sh*t something bad happens to me?

I thought that the best way to let you know is to include the "wake-me-up" note,i left for my parents(with some extra details for you written in the [] ).Read and...well,you won't cry,but you won't enjoy it for sure:

"Good morning (as good as it can be),
as you know, last night i went for a drink with my good friend V.[We went to Diatiriteo bar, where Jon Kennedi was on the decks and we enjoyed every minute of his dj-ing skills! The first drink was followed by a second one, since the music was great and the women were...interesting.]We were standing a few steps from the wardrobe,so we could "blink" our jackets.Around 4 pm,we decided to leave.

Unfortunately, something bad had happened in the meanwhile.Someone had opened the inside pocket of my jacket and stole my old cell phone,my driving license(both for car and motorbike) and my identity card.My friend V.,people from the bar and i believe that it all happened in a second or two, maybe when V. or i went to the WC.Still,i feel very stupid!!!

As i already told you,the cell phone was the old red one.It makes me sad,but not that much.[shit,i just remembered:in that phone i had a couple of messages from one assh*le,sms-es from a man who maybe caused the loss of my favorite radio station!].What worries me the most is that i have to get a new ID card and driving license(s).That's why i really HAVE to wake up early tomorrow!

I am going to bed now but i want to ask you a favor.I know this is not the first time something like this happened to me.I know that lost time and money is not something that we can afford, especially "now".I know that i am a citizen now and i have to be more responsible.I know...i know that there are so many things that i should know and consider, but now i can think of one thing only:i am very sad and angry(mostly with myself)! So,please,do me a favor:be kind enough to support me in this, don't fight me!

Thank you and i will see you in a couple of hours,to tell you everything while drinking coffee..."

[P.S.:I hate violence.I really do.I use violence very rarely, only if someone-dangerously and intensive-threats me or my friends's health, body integrity and/or life.Since i want to be honest i have to share with you this:i can ensure you that if i catch one bloody thief in my hands,if i ever see someone stealing (not only mine, but even a stranger's property),if i find out that someone is having his hand streched and tries to reach someone else's laborious belongings i will bit the hell out of him!I have sworn to my self that i will not stop hitting, not until my hands start bleeding!]

While posting,i was listening to these songs, which relax and "travel" me(and somehow got connected in my mind with this post),and this one, which every time i listen to,gives me hope for "a better tomorrow" and a better world, where life is like movies..."the good wins in the end"...Kisses to all!!

A tribute to Former (x) Republic Radio!!!

Some days ago,it was Wednesday i think,i decided to get up really early in the morning.A plan for coffee with a good friend didn't go well (sorry Ef.) so i stayed home. The ritual is well known : wash up,make a coffee, listen to some music. It was then when it hit me!!!

Almost two months now,or maybe more,my radio was off, since the Republic radio station "disaster".Now,almost mechanically,my hand pressed the button, the radio was on and Republic was on air...But no,this is not Republic, our Republic, our beloved Republic! For one moment i felt almost as one of those people who had created this unbelievable radio station, this never seen(heard) before music radiolution!I was angry, disappointed, sad,"ruined",nauseous!A few seconds later the radio was off again and this post had been born in my mind.

Most of us who live in Thessaloniki and were listening to Republic Radio every day,the whole day until late in night, would agree that it wasn't only a radio station, some radio producers and their music cd's.It was something more than that.

Starting from the morning,Eleni Triferi was there to make our day better.News, comments, games were some of the many things Eleni's everyday show could "offer" us!After her,Stelios Vrettos would put a smile in our face, making us forget how tired we are getting in our jobs or by our studies!Later in the day,Mirella Kappa made our noons soft, easy and smooth, while Nikos Markopoulos would get us ready for a great night out or...in,since we knew that after his show it was Demy's Papadopoulou's turn to...travel us with her music and madness!I believe that i don't have to tell anything about Mr Nikos Komninos or Mema Mpinopoulou : they could keep us in our houses or couldn't let us sleep, with their great music choices!

Still,it wasn't only this!People, the listeners, the audience,WE had something in our heads,in our minds,in our souls! We had to be there,to listen to Republic,to find out who else is listening! It had started,it was becoming OUR music nation,we were part of it and we wanted more and more everyday!I was happy enough to get to know some people, either "live" (Ploutwnios,Me:moir,Efoudi,Xrysopsaraki,Miss Tati,Archive,Mata,Stereotype person,Stelios,Vag) or through internet and emails, mostly myspace (Maria,Yvonne,Renia,The Thelo,|z|,Eba Nicole,Denyo,Natasa,Brainless,Alexandra,Gioulitsa,Rita,Aussie,Miss Pigeon,Mary,Theti,Sevi,Anestis,Kerasoula,Efi,Krystallenia,Eve,Voula,Miss Stellastar,Dimitra,Elenitsa...forgive me if i didn't mention you...).This was Republic and this was a great achievement:it brought people close to each other,it made us feel like we were part of a big "family"!!!And then...

One day something bad happened.I could go on writing for days about the good things and feelings Republic gave us and i could do the same about what happened and who was responsible,why,when,etc...Instead,i wanted this post to be a "nice" tribute to Former Republic Radio and what better way to do it than...music?It is just a reminder but i am sure that it will take all of us back to those days, those shows, with this music and these songs :

Ten years old query...

Many-many years since the last time,i am sitting once again on Thessaloniki's port,in front of the White Tower(and it's around 14:00 pm).

The last time i came here it was back then, when i was a teenager.I used to come here and relax,"hiding" from the people i had always by me,with me every day,my friends who were "too many",as i thought then, the ones who were generating in me the need for some peace and quiet, and that's what i could find here.(Some of them may find it out now,by reading this post).

Almost every time i came here i had something in my mind, one of those problems which seem to be ENORMOUS when you are in your teens, the "life or death" issues which you remember some years later and just laugh.Or maybe it wasn't a problem in my mind, but an excitement, a happy event,a good grade in school,a new girlfriend,a night out with friends, full of laughs, drinks and dance...

Something between,not a problem,neither a happy thought,was my never answered question :
"Where am i going to be ten years from now?Who and what am i going to be?".Sometimes it made me dream on and imagine my self as a successful doctor, some other times it scared me with the thought that i will end up homeless, with no friends,no memory and no "legacy" to leave after me...

Ten years later(maybe twelve) this is where i am again. On the same port,on the same spot and i am maybe sitting on the exact same flat stone (after all, this is Greece, the country that always renovates but you can never see any renovation!).On this port again, being fat again, feeling lonely again, wondering about my brief future once again: should i go or should i stay?

(Oh,shit!Really, shit!I can see it in front of me,coming up in the water...or is it my future?)

It was Greece VS Serbia back then,it is Greece VS Medicine now.If i stay here,in my mother country,i will be with my relatives,my parents,my friends, able to speak in my language, but unable to work and "shine" in medicine,at least not for the next five years!!!

If i go,my life as a doctor begins immediately, the lancet finally "gets in my hand",but i will be far away and with no relatives,no parents,no friends, without our shiny Greek sun and with no chance to come back again!I will be forever lost!!!

The time has passed now,it's late noon and i have to go to work.Goodbye,my love,my port,my Tower,my sea!I will come back soon,i promise!Even if i decide to leave,i will come to let you know,so you won't expect me...

P.S.:While i was writing these last words, the "universe" played a funny game with me :
-a father with his two young children came near me and started yelling...in Serbian!!!
-the song "Where the streets have no name" was on the radio...

(and while i was posting,i was listening to this and this)

Random "daily" thoughts...

Sunday night : I am watching the film "I Am Legend" with Will Smith. There is one moment when the main character is all alone and has no one to say HELLO to.At that point,i was thinking that i couldn't stand it!Or maybe...i do?So,HELLO to all of you...

Later that night,i finished the book "The Hound of the Baskervilles" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and i kept in my mind something that Sherlock Holmes' best friend,Dr John H. Watson said : "what a curse for a man to not have a woman to mourn for him".Hopefully,i won't be SO cursed...

Around that time,His Beatitude the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece, Christodoulos died! You can read more here(in Greek,English or Serbian).Fare well!!!

Monday morning : My sister in law gave me her motorbike for a couple of days,so i can move easily in the city!I am driving again and i am very happy!Thank you,Sonia!

While i was driving singing "Getting away with it" by James,i realized that everyone else in Thessaloniki is singing...Greek songs!Hell no,i don't like bouzoukia and i can't stand Greek music!

The rest of the day,i was thinking about friends and friendship, while i was working! And then,Mr T. came!He said it all,so simple, yet so wise:"There are no friends, but you should be a friend with everyone!"Is he right? So different opinions but not even a "friendly" one!!!

That night i tried to watch "Pan's Labyrinth" but couldn't make it!My heavy and tired eyes closed, trying to make my mind forget my loneliness...

Tuesday : Working, the whole day, feeding people who are eating my soul, hour by hour, day by day!Getting in my mind, eating my thoughts, drinking my feelings and sucking my hopes and dreams.Thank God,there is an end,in a year or so!(if you want a piece of me come and get it,the sooner the better...)

That night
i spent three hours trying to find a song "the litany of the saint",by Dr Jones(apparently i don't recall the name right, because i had no success in finding it).If anyone has it,please mail it to me(or give it to me somehow). Thanks in advance!!!

Something good happened in the meanwhile!I saw something in my facebook :"Former Republic Fm members are getting ready for their next step...".Yes,yes,yes!!!

Wednesday : A friend from my college years, one of the people i was afraid that i had lost, called me to prove me wrong!People and friends don't forget you from one day to another, even if you think so!Thanks for reminding me that ,L.!!!

Now(03:40 am)
: As my good friend L. told me,"life is not in here...life is out there!!!".Now i finally agree with him that my life is not
so starting from Saturday,i am going to spend more time "out there"!!!

Conclusion : Excuse me,but the last ten (maybe more) days i am in a weird mood, working, being and feeling lonely and missing many things and especially people!I guess it's just a period,a phase that i am going through and it will end soon,because...I SAY SO!Just be patient!Kisses to all of you!!!

Help...wanted...?

(This post is dedicated to my friend xrysopsaraki for the small "fight" we had yesterday.)

Since yesterday morning,i had many thoughts in my head about help and friends. Now i find it so hard to write it all,i am very tired and it's too late! There are two thoughts though that i have to share with you :

A.Many people believe that the ones who are always willing to help (their friends or even strangers) are the ones who need help themselves!I can't decide if i agree or not!!!

B.Yesterday was one of the many times that i found myself in a bad position,an argument or even a fight just because i wanted to help(or thought that i HAVE to help). Is it so bad to just offer others your help?Does someone have to wait until he is asked to help?Am i crazy for thinking that if everybody helped everyone, this would be a wonderful world?Does help...?(i have so many questions, but i'm sorry...can't keep my eyes open no more...)

The world would be better definitely and life would be easier if questions like these were simply answered...I don't know why but i have a bitter sweet taste in my mouth after these thoughts.Maybe i just have to pay a visit to my dentist and take my "wisdom" teeth out...Kisses to all, take care...

Oh,father...my father!!!

"Father":something that every man should be at least once in his life if he wants to feel complete, but for me is a role that i don't want to play in my life,a being that i am not looking forward to become, although i am almost sure i will be...(if i am not already,by "accident" and without any knowledge!!!). ;)

The more time i spend with my father, after 9 years of my absence, the more i think that he is the typical Balkan-Greek father. This is how you will know that your father is one too:

-He never told you about the birds and the bees.
-He calls you a "dummy" for not knowing how to do something he can't either.
-You had to break off a tree branch from your back yard, so your father could whoop your ass with it.
-He threatens you with a slipper or a newspaper and tells you "if i catch you..." but never does.
-Before school (when he was young) every morning he had to look after the sheep, milk the cows, gather all hay, feed the animals etc...
-He had to walk to school barefoot in the snow, 5km uphill both ways. And over rocks.
-He expects you to study or "hit the books" every waking hour that he's home, and he expects nothing less than an "A".
-He talks to you and every other word he calls you is stupid or malaka...

-Duck tape is your father's only tool next to using a kitchen knife as a screwdriver.
-He wears black socks to work everyday.
-You work out six days a week, but somehow you dad kicks your ass in like five seconds after he comes home from a thirteen hour day from the bakery/factory/food business.
-You can hear your father snoring from across the street.

-He wears dress socks with tennis shoes.
-He claims not to be a racist but insists that Greeks invented everything.
-He thinks he knows everything about the world today.
-He usually doesn't wear under arm deodorant because it could cause cancer.
-He thinks that the phone is bugged.
-He washes the garage floor with the hose wearing cheap criss-cross brown flip-flops.

-He carries around enough money to buy a car.
-When you need something your father asks right away "Why do you need that?" and then tells you "This is the shit you spend all your money on!".And then he buys it for you.
-Every time your family needs to buy a household item, your father asks the salesperson "how much for cash" and continues to bargain down for at least half an hour.

-When you go on vacation your father spends all his time playing tavli at the hotel.
-He does a running commentary through a movie and he thinks he knows everything that's going to happen even though he has never seen the movie.
-He thinks everyone from China has a black belt in karate.
-In some occasions he tells you not to drink so much, but he drinks non stop.

-He looks at an old photo album and sees himself young and says "wow,i used to be so handsome" and your mom tells "please, stop laying".
-He tells you "when i was your age..." and then forgets what was his point...

My point is that i love my father...and you should too!
As for this post,i am only jogging!I found this text here and is about my friends Serbians!Take a look, enjoy and don't forget...love your parents!!!

Egnatia street...

After a "movie-dinner-nice conversation" evening with a good girlfriend,i found myself walking around 3:30 am on Egnatia street,in the center of Thessaloniki.

I was whispering the song Xanomai while walking and observing around...a young couple was laughing loud while chasing each other on the other side of the street,a middle aged woman had just opened her mini market and was dusting off some potato chips bags(i didn't know people do that),an old man was walking beside me,swearing about the Greek government, the young people and the new generation, some cars where driving, taking people to their early morning jobs or to their homes, full of alcohol, smoke and music...

It was then, when i realized that i have missed the late night walks, the late night life of Thessaloniki with all the funny, ugly, beloved or stupid acts-people-things someone can see or meet in this city...and then...

A taxi came by.I took it...came home,in my cell,in my cave,in my loneliness again...and it was late..."Shit,i have to sleep...i have so many things to do tomorrow..and i have to start studying again..." i thought...

Well,i didn't do any of what i was thinking about when i fell in sleep..But the only thing that i am going right now to do is..take another walk on Egnatia street!!!

Play with me...(or our last night...)

Here i am ,ready for the new year!I just promised to myself,a couple of days ago that i will get rid of my f. buddies!

Why do i feel like shit then, today? Why did i have to get with her for one more night? Why did i have to refresh the memory of her smell? Why did i have to feel the heat of her body once again?Why...why...why?I could go on for hours just questioning myself but no answer!

Is it because i am just used to it?Is it because it's a part of me that i can't get rid of so easily? Is it because i am afraid of something else?

A friend of mine is minding the gap, another is feeling sorry for a lost kitten (fare well,Lucky) and i am feeling as a game machine,as a joystick, needed as much as useless, empty as much as full (of what?cables?),strong as much as weak, senseless as much as sensitive, mature as much as "raw"...

Maybe this is what i really am!I am a joystick so,please, play with me,get as much joy as you can out of me and then throw me away!At least,i will be sure that i have done something good, that i have given some pleasure to someone, even though i didn't get any back...just as a joystick!!!:

P.S.The following song is more of her type, but i believe that it describes our last night...enjoy...

Personal notes, thoughts, decisions for the new year (or maybe...Happy Bliss Year) !!!

Another day,another week,another month,another year...Another Dr_Pako or the same,old one?Let's see...
This year i would like to:
-get angry rarely and only for things and people who are worth it (or deserve it)
-get tired more often by doing things that matter, working for people who appreciate it and helping people who dare to ask for help (you know me...i am willing to help everyone...)
-get pleased easily, with small things and little acts
-hold on with quiting smoking (it is a year since i smoked my last cigarette)
-get rid of my fuck buddies...ooops,i don't mean that...but i am sure that i will try
-get a woman to love me...actually,get a woman to love...i believe that a man has to love, even though he doesn't get some love back
-work,study,think...became a better person...a better friend...and an even better doctor
-get my "old body" back..i am going to lose the 10 kilos i gained during the army and exercise in the gym at least 4 times/week
-socialize,get to know real people, not through a monitor and internet
-as always,be a kind person and help other to become nice and kind
-go often to Bliss cafe for a coffee, drop by for a "good morning-good evening" wish and some nice, easy going chit-chat or some serious discussion!(i hope i am welcome)
So much for now, although i am sure that the following days i will fill in some thoughts..As for now,i can tell you only this:find some time and visit Bliss cafe bar(Ermou 51,Aristotelous,Thessaloniki)and believe me..you will find your self lost in deep thoughts, warm feelings and loveful decisions for the new year...So,Happy Bliss Year to all!See you soon, kisses!!!

Fuck Buddies!!!

As my good friend xrysopsaraki@ said, these are the "fuck buddy" rules:
1.No holding hands.
2.No spending the night. (i would say : Maybe,if you are dead-tired after a looong sex night...).
3.Fifteen minutes of cuddling max. But affection is generally discouraged beyond “Aww, you’re such a great fuck!”
4.Do not enter upon a fuck buddy arrangement or situation while drunk. There’s a difference between a one-night stand and a fuck buddy. Although entering either drunk is not wise.
5.You don’t want to go to bed with Will Smith and wake up with Steve Urkel, do you? Besides, don’t you want to be sober enough to remember all the marvelous sex you had the night before?
6.No toothbrushes. Refer to #2. There should be no ties at all, even if they cost only $2.49 and secretly you let your other fuck buddy use the same one.
7.Don’t discuss anything real. No family history, no favorite colors, no goals, no personal triumphs or tragedies. If you want to keep it real, you have to stay light: movies, bands, and favorite brands of booze. (i don't agree with this one..)
8.He is not obligated to have sex with you while you’re having your period. Most nice boyfriends will, but fuck buddies have the option to pass. If he doesn’t mind, then cool.
9.No sweetie, honey, schmoopie allowed. The only pillow-talk is fuck me harder, ride me bitch, or suck this big cock.
10.No dinners, no movies, no''quality time'' at all. (FOR SURE!!!)
11.Two guys/girls in twenty-four hours is fine, just be discreet. (This reminds me of something...;) )
12.You still need to dress to impress. Just because you know sex is a sure thing doesn’t mean you should answer the door in your pajamas unless they’re really tight and see-thru. Shower, shave, lotion up, smell good, and have some fun with that tight mini-skirt you would never wear on a real date. (The same counts for us,guys!Don't be dirty,smelly,unshaved-unless she wants you to- just because she is your fuck buddy!!!)
13.Break out the sex toys. Play up the freak factor and see how much you can get away with. Part of the fun of a fuck buddy is you don’t care if he respects you or not and so you can let loose and reveal that sadist tendency of yours. (This is not arule ho have to follow...do so,only if you are in to SM...)
14.Hide evidence. Throw out all condom wrappers (although you should no matter what, ew!), put the lube back in your goodie drawer, and for fuckssake don’t get any hickeys, bruises, bites, or scratches if you expect to date/fuck anyone else any time soon. And if you have a collared-shirt job, keep all that shit below the neck line so you don’t give your boss a heart attack. Or any ideas.
15.Pee with the door closed. Just because you’re using each other for sex doesn’t mean you can’t keep some decency.

I had to add that i'm sick and tired of all of you who have never felt the true HEAT of a FUCK BUDDY and you just seat and "decorate" your sexless thoughts with philosophy and mpla,mpla,mpla...Even for this, theories and words? That is:words in the AIR?No,it's better to hve acts even if they are acts for the D**K!!!
I can only agree with my good friend demy_online (whos blog is the cause of all of this) and those who agree with her, that anyone can get off as he likess and wishes!!!
If i want to be honest,i have to say that i have 2 girlfriends-FUCK THEIR BRAINS OUT BUDDIES for several years now and we talk about everything,we share enerything and we feel everything, those hours that we spend together...and then,NOTHING!!!
I mean that we aren't animals, senseless,"bricks","meat",we are just "mature",conscious,if i may say!"I know what i want and this is what i get these hours i spend with you",answered to me one of my FUCK BUDDIES when i asked her if "this" was enough for her! That moment,i'm going to remember it for ever as one of the best moments of my life! And i don't care if you want to call me"DRY",PROSE,EMPTY,SENSELESS...The only thing i know is that...i like and enjoy my way!!!
(To avoid misunderstandings...FUCK BUDDIES get in the..."refrigerator",everytime someone of the "group" has a relation...)...Stay cool,be good,go crazy,enjoy life...FUCK!!!

Am i the only one who hates capital cities?

Being one of the millions people who have lived their whole life in the second biggest city of a country (as Thessaloniki in Greece and Nis in Serbia),capital cities seem to me as something...outrageous,meaningless,ugly...(i can go on like this for the next three pages...).Many of you will not agree with me,but this is my thoughts,my opinion and i have to tell it,otherwise it will explode in my brain!!!
Unfortunatelly, the past six months, the Greek goverment decided that the exams for the recognition of the medical diplomas have to take place in Athens and only in Athens! The exams are hard as they are, even if someone lives near the exams center.Imagine how difficult it is for us who have to travel 500 or more kilometres to Athens, have to stay in hotels (and pay much money) or in relatives (the lucky ones) and find the way to the exams center, not knowing Athens at all!It is the exams difficulty x 100 times!!!This is why i had to spend the last 4 days in Athens...and i thank God that it was only FOUR DAYS!!!(even though it seemed like an eternity!!!).

While i was in Athens i had to travel through the city by train, subway and bus,met some young people, talked to some old people, ate some junk food...Well,i am almost sure now that my worst week in Thessaloniki (or in Nis),is way better than a normal week in Athens!People are more friendly in "second" cities, even if they are young or old, they will talk to you for fun or they just won't pay any attention to you, while in Athens people are coming close to you, only for their benefit, young or old ones..
One of my biggest disappointments about big cities is that they are much more organized and comfortable than any other city, although the whole country is paying the same taxes! As an example:in the bus station in Athens you can hear classic music and a soft female voice which says : "music journeys by bus through Athens",the same time that in Thessaloniki there is no bus station and people have to get wet when it is raining and they are waiting for the bus(oh,yes,in Thessaloniki we wait for the bus twice as long as they do in Athens).

Maybe i am just furious because i had to spend a large ammount of money and i didn't pass my exams, but i beleive that there is a huge injustice going on and it has to stop!!!So,come on,everybody, stop going in Athens or in other capital cities for shopping or for concerts, stop behaving as if people who come from capital cities are all coultural, clever amd nice and see what is really going on : they are enjoying their lives on our expence! We are working for their pleasure!Enough!Stay in your city, enjoy with what you are having there and soon enough, things will get almost equal...We just have to be patient...Oh,patience is something that people in Athens ignore...So,am i the only one who hates Athens?...

P.S.:If you come from Athens, excuse me,but this is how i really feel about most of you...Hey,cousin,i am not referring to you...

Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)-Baz Luhrmann

Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ’99 If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience…I will dispense this advice now.

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded. But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked….You’re not as fat as you imagine.
Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.
Do one thing everyday that scares you.

Sing
Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours.

Floss
Don’t waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind…the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself.
Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you succeed in doing this, tell me how.
Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.

Stretch
Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life…the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t.
Get plenty of calcium.
Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.
Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary…what ever you do, don’t congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either – your choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s. Enjoy your body, use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it, or what other people think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own..

Dance
…even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.
Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.
Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.
Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for good.
Be nice to your siblings; they are the best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.
Understand that friends come and go,but for the precious few you should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you knew when you were young.
Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard; live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.

Travel.
Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will philander, you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.
Respect your elders.
Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one might run out.
Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you're 40, it will look 85.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.
But trust me on the sunscreen…

No,shit...I am in the army!!!

Who would or could believe it?In my late 20's(OK,OK,i am 28 years old) i had to go to the army!I am now serving "mother-home country",i am one of the thousands soldiers, since 13.02.2007 until 13.02.2008.I hope you will forgive me for not posting frequently, but i don't have the time!Especially now, when i use all my free time for studying(i have my diploma recognition exams in July).

Believe it or not, even though i am i doctor,i have to do everything a soldier does,so i am always tired and sleepy...Except the first 3 weeks,as you can see in the photo,i was a REBEL,an "i don't give a rat's ass for the army" soldier...But those days are over now...Let's we all hope that the end will come soon,so i will be "back" to you...Be good everybody,kisses....and,please,don't forget me...or any other soldier you may know...

P.S.:From now on,i am going to post in English,so all my friends in Greece,Serbia,Sweden,England,U.S.A. and Australia will be able to post me a comment about the stupidities i write :-))....Kisses,everybody!!!

“WHAT IF GOD WAS ONE OF US?”

Saturday noon, after a very tiring week that except of the work, included "like the cherry on the cake" the unjust loss, the funeral of an old schoolmate and good friend, only 28 years old man (goodbye,Vasili, have a nice "journey" and i hope you will be good where you are going...I am sorry that i don't write anything more about you,but i don't know if you would like something like that…or if your family would like it)...
So,on a noon like this one,you think about going for a walk and a coffee in the amazing Thessaloniki and enjoy the shining sunny day or about staying at home, drink a coffee "with" yourself and think about what life is and what is its true meaning…And then, when you accept that you can't answer these so common yet so "absolute" questions, you can read some old medical magazines (i am a little bit "late" in reading about new stuff) and/or watch some repetitions of old episodes of some Greek series shows, the kind of "Papakaliati",SINGLES 2 and others that i don't recall now(forgive me)...
This post is about these series, these tv shows, although if i want to be honest,it is about what they represent and the people who are watching them.Don't get me wrong,i don't want to judge anyone. It's not on me to decide and judge who is "good" and who is not.I just want to understand a couple of thinks and express one of my questions.
So,i prepare an ice coffee,a frappe, with a little bit sugar and a little bit milk(ups, when did this expire, man?),i analyze the very heavy "life" question for 3,5 minutes and i repeat to my self for the thousand time that i won't find an answer(at least not today) and by taking in my hand the remote control,i go on having some "zapping" and activate the brain wash that pleases so many people every day in our world..
News, light boring movies, family series where the little daughter of the seven membered family is starting to have her first love disappointments and the mother (a restaurant worker-psychologist–best mom ever) is trying to prevent the "bad" thing (the sex),or teenager series where the five friends meet in the same old coffee shop and start another one funny-realistic "adventure",always with a happy ending.Sometime later, comes the BOOM,the repetition of a well known Greek show-serial…
After twenty minutes of brain washing with the particular "single" 2 series,i call a very good friend of mine that had suggested this show to me.My nerves are ready to explode because of the stupidity of the script writer which can be heard in every word that the actors say,who are trying to do something but don't succeed(total luck of acting ability),the director is trying to show off so that everyone will be talking about him in the huge academic classes of the director's academies, but i believe that the biggest "class" where his name will be heard is going to be my father's grill shop-and i suppose it won't be heard for "good"…
My friend listens to me while he is sleepy(i interrupted his Saturday noon sleep and by talking continuously i end up yelling about the bad quality of Greek television) and when finally i stop,i hear him say this:"You are addicted to the standardised American models of the imported serials and you can't recognize the true Greek television quality…”…Whaattaa? What did you say,MAN?I ask him :"Where did you read this?".No answer.I am sure that the answer is hiding somewhere between the pages of one of those magazines kind of FREE,MAXIM,DENIM,FOR HIM or something else that ends in –ΙΜ,-ΒΟΥ or -HOUSE,magazines with various content, with "heavy" thinking questions and answers as in "what does the successful man in modern Greece eat" and interviews from ten men of this kind (as if we care, since according to the same magazine we are losers or on the way to become one) or "what is this year's best GADGET for the Greek man"(with a price as 1800 payments of an un-GADGET-ed Greek man). You see,my friend is the typical Greek man:worker in a small clothing industry(or,if you like,a successful P.R. of a fashion house...yeah right...),a "dog"(listener-fan of Greek ethnic music,as one of my cousins says),buzukia-frequenter mostly or fake-high society-kits-bar lover(only those nights that he is not in the mood or doesn't have much money).Nice guy, interesting person, but with "Greek" taste...This isn't necessary a bad thing,it just doesn't match with my taste.
We hang up and i am still watching the disgusting(for me)series...I didn't have to wait for my justification to come:one of the actors "throws" a specific phrase that i remember to have heard in one American series. That was it.I am now sure that there is no quality, that the "recipe" for a good GREEK serial is only one and that is copying! I have to ask for forgiveness now from mister Papakaliatis for revealing his big secret and i hope that i didn't ruin his plans for his next book: "THE BIG GUIDE ABOUT GOOD COPYING FOR AMBITIOUS GREEK SCRIPT WRITERS"...
My question (have i kept you in suspense or did i make you get bored with what i have been saying?) is this:is it my idea or some things out there "go" together?I mean the characteristics of my friend and so many others who are "out there":amusement in buzukia, taste and listening to Greek music exclusively, low level of education,in some occasions low I.Q. and finally…addiction to one of the Greek series-shows-serials with pride about the Greeks success, worshiping imported stolen ideas!I mean, does someone have to be in this category of people to be able to actually enjoy one (if not all) Greek serial?(Honestly,i want to know what you think about it,even if you agree or not...If you disagree,it will probably be more interesting!!!)
The episode ends with the old, well known song “What if God was one of us?” (i think its original title is "One of us",by Joan Osborne)and the actress(a successful Greek actress, single mother, with all the Greek magazines congratulating her for her good work this year and her good acting ability that can be seen in these episodes...please,have mercy!!!)on a monologue, having some thoughts, that my 15 years old neighbor will hear and will make her think that she is a "completed woman",because it was only yesterday when she was thinking the same "chick stuff",as she calls it...
I don't want to tire you any more(and some friends are waiting me for coffee) i have only one think to say:if God was one of us,if He was living in our country,He probably wouldn't listen to Greek buzukia, probably wouldn't watch these series, probably wouldn't stand our Greek wisdom(that characterizes us,since ever, just because...well,"just like that,we are Greek,so we are wise" is the answer you will get by the ABSOLUTE-GREEK men...???),probably wouldn't stand the "Greek European sub-culture" and probably would leave for somewhere else...That's what i say and i am waiting to see if you agree or not...Either way, listen to the song,it's not bad even if you are a "dog",a patriot,an ABSOLUTE GREEK MAN,or "one of us"...
